Did you know that depending on where you live there are rebates and tax incentives available when you upgrade to an Energy Star heating and cooling system?
If you are a SMUD electric customer, there is an incentive of up to $3500 to convert a gas heating system to an all electric heat pump system. Does this option make sense for you? Check out our previous article to see if home electrification makes sense to you.
Already have a heat pump and live in the SMUD district? They have a rebate of $750 to replace your existing heat pump with high efficiency.
Don’t live in a SMUD service area? That’s ok! The state has an incentive program TECH Clean California where you can receive $1000 off of the contract amount when you switch from fossil fuel heating to a heat pump system. And yes you can even stack this rebate with your local utility rebate!
Happen to live in Roseville? Roseville Electric has quite a few incentives available. They offer $1200-$3000 ($600 per ton) to go all electric and eliminate your gas furnace. There is also a rebate if you currently have a heat pump of $500-$1250 ($250 per ton) to replace your system.
In addition to rebates on heating and air conditioning upgrades, Roseville Electric offers $100 if you install a smart thermostat. Thinking about a whole house fan? Roseville Electric also has an incentive of $400 back to you. Lastly, if you get a system maintenance tune-up before October 1st they offer $50 back in your pocket.
The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 includes a Federal Tax Credit on heating and cooling upgrades. There is a tax credit of up to $2000 on heat pump systems as well as up to $600 on gas/electric heating and air systems.
Unfortunately PG&E does not currently have any residential incentives for their electric or gas customers.
