Finding a contractor is hard. Finding a good contractor is even harder.  We understand that.

Here are a few tips to help you with ANY home improvement projects from heating and air conditioning, kitchen remodels, and more.

  • Ask friends and neighbors for referrals. Reach out on social media for a great crowdsourcing of potential contractors.
  • Check the contractor’s license in your state. In California go to www.cslb.ca.gov. You can see updated insurance information as well as any complaints against the contractor.
  • Check with the local Better Business Bureau. A great unbiased source for information on the business.
  • Make sure they are pulling a permit in your city or county.
  • Don’t pay an excessive down payment – in CA it is $1000 or 10% of the job, whichever is less.
  • Get multiple bids to compare companies services and go with the company you feel most confident in!
